Who this is for
You already have something (Carrd, Notion, Google Forms, a free ESP plan, a WP theme) and you are wondering whether to consolidate into a funnel + email all-in-one or keep stitching tools. You want cost and effort honesty — not invented “we migrated and made $X” stories.
Migration cost frame (no fake case studies)
General ops framing. Not a lab test of any vendor’s importer.
- List export / import. Expect CSV export from the old ESP, field mapping, and a double-opt-in or re-permission check if the list is cold. Time: often hours for a small list; days if tags/automations are messy.
- Page rebuild. Landing and sales pages rarely “port.” Budget a rewrite pass in the new builder (or keep DIY URLs and only move email).
- Automations rewrite. Sequences, tags, and webhooks usually do not transfer 1:1. Recreate the minimum path (welcome → nurture → offer) first.
- DNS / domain. Custom domains and email authentication (SPF/DKIM) add a half-day for many solos — plan it before you cut over.
- Opportunity cost. A week of migration is a week not shipping product. If the free stack still converts, delay the switch.
When switching is worth considering
- You hit hard caps (contacts, funnels, or branding) on a free plan and the next paid tier elsewhere is worse value for your job.
- You are paying for separate email + pages + checkout and want one dashboard — see all-in-one vs stack.
- Launch velocity matters more than perfect DIY control — see funnel builder vs DIY.
When to stay put
- No offer and no consistent traffic — tooling will not invent demand.
- Your free/default stack still supports the only funnel step you need.
- You need specialist depth (creator ESP polish, SEO scoring, agency CRO) more than consolidation — see sibling FAQs and the ≤$100 stack guide.
systeme.io slot (research placeholder)
systeme.io publishes an all-in-one for funnels, email, pages, courses, and checkout, including a permanently free plan with contact/funnel caps (confirm current systeme.io pricing). Fit notes live on the chooser — labeled Research placeholder — not a hands-on review. We have not tested their importer.
