Stay on free / freemium when
- You are validating the offer — no consistent traffic or sales yet.
- You only need one landing page, a form, and a welcome email.
- List size and send volume still fit the vendor’s free limits (check their current docs; limits change).
- Paying would only buy “nice” branding you do not need for friends-and-family launches.
Consider upgrading when
- You hit hard caps (contacts, sends, funnels, or custom domains) that block a real launch.
- You need checkout, membership, or course delivery the free tier does not include.
- You are paying separately for page builder + ESP + payments and an all-in-one paid plan would simplify ops (see AIO vs stack).
- Support, remove-branding, or higher deliverability tools become worth the invoice after revenue exists — not before.
systeme.io publishes free and paid plans for funnels/email (checked 11 Sep 2026). Research placeholder — verify live pricing on their site. Related: Is systeme.io’s free plan enough for a first funnel?
When DIY still wins
- Static site + free form + free ESP + a simple payment link covers the whole path.
- You already live in Notion / Carrd / WordPress and adding another SaaS slows you down — see vs DIY.
- Your bottleneck is offer clarity or traffic, not funnel software features.
Honesty checks
- No “ROI after upgrading,” commission dollars, or invented plan-price tables on this page.
- Research vs hands-on: plan limits and pricing change — always confirm on the vendor site.
